Excellent Games From The Women-Led Games Showcase: The Game Awards Edition 2025
This is our fourth time collaborating with the Women-Led Games team as their official PR partner, and every year the show just gets better and better. We loved everything from the show's hosts, wife-and-husband duo Aliya Will and Philip Hartshorn, hearing about Rebb Ford’s career at Warframe, but best of all: the games that were showcased.
A Heavy Morning
We love the diversity in games, with objectives as far flung as saving the world to simply just trying to get through a single person’s day. A Heavy Morning is a game that falls squarely into the latter camp. It’s a narrative adventure game that takes players inside the mind of a young woman struggling to face a new day. All you need to do is help her through the first 30 minutes of her day and make it to work on time. Those who struggle with mental health might empathise with how gargantuan this seemingly simple goal might be. Yet the game is able to express these challenges through visualising mental blocks as puzzles that you’ll have to navigate. The art style is also so expressive and effective at capturing mood and feeling.
The Witch’s Bakery
A witchy 2D adventure RPG meets Emily in Paris? Say no more! Play as Lunne, a joyful witch who sets up shop in Paris as a budding young baker. Unlike your average croissant crafter however, she has the ability to see into people’s hearts and heal their emotions, which she does through her baked goods. And the game is not just shop simulation; it’s actually broken up into day, evening and night sections which allows Lunne to explore Paris and its secrets, make friends and decorate her bakery. We love how this game manages to capture whimsy in all of its facets, through the exploration of a new city, delightful food and the building of rich relationships.
Shoe it All!
Swing, fling and cause chaos. This is Shoe it All!, a game that’s literally about flinging shoes. You’ll fling them at destructible objects, at people and even into things - just watch the mayhem that ensues. Each shoe that goes flying may get you one step further (get it?) toward collecting shiny stickers, unlocking secrets and filling up your diary with all of your wildest shoe-ventures. That’s kind of it with the game, but we love how unique it is and that its wacky premise is reminiscent of other unique games like Katamari Damacy.
Dodo Duckie
There’s something so wholesome about duck protagonists, and Dodo Duckie is shaping up to be your favourite quacky pal yet. This is a puzzle platforming adventure with a twist that lets you explore the environment from both a 2D and 3D perspective. Play as Dodo, who has been unceremoniously yoinked from his chicken family, thrown into a glitched dimension and is now tasked with bringing them back. You’ll waddle through farmlands, glaciers and alien abodes, utilising the perspective swapping “magic” to reveal hidden paths and surprises. Our favourite feature though? Hitting Q to “quack”, which has the double effects of scaring aliens and calming your duckie brain down.
GHOST CAM
Capture spookies and spirits on film in GHOST CAM, a paranormal-detecting horror game. In this game, your camera acts as your paranormal “sight”, unveiling the eerie within liminal spaces. Through what you photograph, you’ll be able to unveil a haunting mystery. However the deeper you go, the more distorted your world becomes. Based on the Steam page, most of the game’s major plot is still under wraps, however the mention of a “haunted horse girl aesthetic” under the About The Game section is certainly intriguing to us! GHOST CAM release January 19th 2026.
Bonus: I Write Games Not Tragedies
It would be remiss of us to not mention our sister publisher, Yotsuba Interactive’s debut title! I Write Games Not Tragedies is an emo-inspired narrative rhythm game with a rich coming of age story. Follow Ash’s journey of self-discovery from young goth in the early 2000s to elder emo in the 2020s, via a battle with addiction in the 2010s. We love the messy, sketchy art, the cringe-yet-cool original music that you can rock out too and most of all a cast of witty yet flawed, lovable characters.
