Our Favourite Games From The Latin American Games Showcase: The Game Awards Edition 2025
The Game Awards season has officially kicked off this December with a slate of exciting video game showcases, highlighting up and coming indie developers. One such event is the Latin American Games Showcase which has curated a wonderful segment that represents the best games from the region. This is our fourth time collaborating with the team as their official PR partner and in our humble opinion it seems to be their best show yet! Here are some titles that truly caught our eye.
Retail Hell
Is there anything more hellish than working in retail? The developers behind this game have taken that phrase to the extreme and made Retail Hell, a horror job simulator. You are a staff member for a convenience store set in hell. Serve creepy non-human customers, manage your strange inventory and figure out why on earth your shift never seems to end. In Retail Hell, customer service is eternal.
Mariachi Legends
This stunning game has been around at showcases for sometime now and for good reason. Mariachi Legends is a brutal, combat-oriented Metroidvania set in Mexico. Play as Pablo Cruz, a man who made a pact with Death to receive the powers of La Sombra in exchange for doing her bidding. This game rewards players who are quick and versatile, with a variety of weapons and sub-weapons to help diversify your fighting style. The pixel art is also like nothing else, and you’ll see it bring lively streets and colourful characters to life with great detail. And as it wouldn’t be Mexico-themed without a mention of food, you will also get to discover recipes, collect ingredients and cook Mexican cuisine - good enough to honour your ancestors!
The Path Into The Abyss
A sandbox survival game that just hits different is The Path Into The Abyss. Taking place in an alien-invaded Buenos Aires, this cosmic horror game challenges players to survive this hostile environment that was once your home. Utilise a unique crafting system, talk to dynamic NPCs and brave the storm and whatever weather this broken land throws at you. The world is yours to change.
WOODROT
After a slightly unnerving experience? Then step into the slippers of an ageing maintenance man, tasked with managing an apartment that’s… floating in the middle of the ocean. Check in on your residents, get to know their deep lore, or not - just do your duties and you’ll probably get by just fine. Point and click your way through this game, which invites players to explore and poke at secrets better left alone. We love this unique artstyle that takes advantage of a limited colour palette to create strikingly strange landscapes.
Mexican Ninja
We love games that combine cultural influences and inspirations such as Mexican Ninja. This is a 2.5D action roguelike that will see you BE the Mexican Ninja himself. As an embodiment of slicing, dicing and fast-paced dodging, you’ll be carving through “Narkuzas” (a clever portmanteau of narcos and yakuza?) in the colourful yet gritty Nuevo Tokyo. We love how exciting and dynamic this game looks, a sure hit for folks who just want to get down to some badassery.
