Cool Games At Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show 2025
2025 marked the first year that Gamescom Asia made its way over to Bangkok. As part of its collaboration with Thailand Game Show, both powerhouse Southeast Asian events decided to combine forces to create a superevent that would rival many gaming events around the world. With games on display in both the B2B and B2C sections as well as primetime showcases online, it was an immense celebration of games! Here’s a short snippet of games we saw that we really enjoyed.
Funguys Swarm
From the creators of Coral Island comes Funguys Swarm, a decidedly different survivor bullet hell themed around mushrooms. The forest is on fire, things are not fine, but as a Funguy you can arm yourself with weapons and fight back against the Fireking’s army. We love the adorable graphics in this game that mesh so well against a funky, tropical soundtrack. For those who enjoy an action-packed roguelike, this might be a good one to pick up.
Berserk B.I.T.S.
If you were a fan of Berserk Boy, then Berserk B.I.T.S. might be the next game you want to pick up! Created by the same developer, Berserk B.I.T.S. is an idle-rpg, auto-battler and chip-collecting game that runs on the bottom of your desktop. You’ll train and level up your Battle Intelligent Teammate (or B.I.T.) and have them collect battle chips while taking on viruses on the internet. Get a surge of motivation from watching campaigns, side quests and more unfold all while you’re productively working on your own tasks.
MONOWAVE
Looking for a whimsical platformer that’s reminiscent of the movie Inside Out? Look no further than MONOWAVE, a puzzle-adventure platformer inspired by the power of emotions. The game revolves around Mono, a newborn Guardian set to protect four emotions: anger, anxiety, happiness and sorrow. Along the way, the emotions have been scattered and it’s up to Mono to reunite them once more. We love how MONOWAVE manages to weave gameplay elements into the skills you gain from the emotions and how it paints a very humane picture of our feelings.
No Straight Roads 2
The gang’s all back in Vinyl City in No Straight Roads 2, the sequel to the cult hit action adventure rhythm game. Players will be joined again by rock rebels Mayday and Zuke as they aim for the top of the international charts and battle it out with a new slate of musical acts. Fitting for a part two, there will also be two new playable bandmates, each with their own musical influences and unique gameplay mechanics to switch things up. If you enjoyed the first No Straight Roads or even just love the thought of a high octane rock and roll vibe-y game, definitely give No Straight Roads 2 a look at when it releases in 2026.
Duo Quest
A decidedly different co-op game we saw at Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show is Duo Quest. It’s a game that truly tests the power of friendship as you’ll overcome monsters with a friend by answering thought-provoking questions about each other. There are over 1000 unique questions in the game and hundreds of cards to help you get through battles. Will your relationship withstand the threat of the Demon King, or will the strength of your Duo Energy save the day?
Compensation Not Guaranteed
Fans of document checking games like Papers, Please may enjoy this one. Compensation Not Guaranteed is set in a fantastical Southeast Asia where the government needs to acquire land from its people. Your role is to check the ownership documents belonging to the citizens, hear their stories and determine if they need to be compensated for their land, or if they are better suited to sacrificing it for the “greater good”. We love how video games such as this one are able to cast a lens over real life social issues. The art style for this game is also so unique!
