Celebrating The End Of The Year With South East Asia Games Onward

As we begin to move from 2025 to 2026, we reminisce about all of the games that came out this year and all of the exciting games to come in the new year. Then like a belated Christmas present comes SEAGO, or South East Asia Games Onward. This annual celebration of SEA games was first established in 2023 and now runs every year to support the craft of indie game development coming out of the Southeast Asian region. Here are some of our favourite games that we saw this year.

Mirth Island

Looking for your next cosy game? Look no further than Mirth Island, a game about a young duck’s quest to rebuild the local community theater. Through the game, you’ll explore the adorable world of Mirth Island, meet your islander friends and play cute mini-games with them. Truly, though, the best part of the game is the soulful quacky theme song; it’s equal parts silly and inspiring.

KuloNiku: Bowl Up!

Does your heart yearn for the good ol’ days of Cooking Mama? Gambir Studio have something just like it cooking up, with an Indonesian twist. Cook up a storm in KuloNiku: Bowl Up!, a management-sim cooking game where you’ll cook for your local townsfolk and battle to become a top chef, all while protecting your family’s long running “bakso” (Indonesian meatball) restaurant. We love the idea of a Meatball Brawl, the in-game culinary duel that will have you going up against rivals for the best bakso chef in town.

last seen online

Desktop exploration games seem to be having a resurgence, but here’s one title you might have missed from 2024. Last Seen Online is a psychological horror escape room, inspired by classic flash games of a similar ilk. In this game you’ll look through a stranger’s computer files, solve puzzles and ultimately discover the truth of someone else’s life. A huge shoutout to the developers who participated in SEAGO by providing some deep dive commentary about how the game itself was developed.

Puni the Florist

Here’s a cosy game with an artsy twist! Puni The Florist is a flower shop simulation game with the aiming of showcasing the player’s creativity. You’ll be tasked with managing your shop and designing unique bouquets for your customers. However through this journey, you’ll also learn a thing or two about yourself. The art style for this game is really cute with music that’s so soothing we’ll definitely fall deeply into zen mode as we craft some beautiful bunches of flowers.

Office Crush Dating Simulator

This game is not what it seems. Office Crush Dating Simulator’s premise is about moving to the city, landing an internship and meeting attractive eligible bachelors at work. But somewhere along the lines, something fuzzy starts to happen and strange occurrences lead you to believe that there’s more than meets the eye to this romance game… after all, what is the Pink Iris Church?? Find out more about the game and play it on itch.io here.
